Ron Paul- The Only REAL Agent of Change!

By: Thaddeus S. Kaczor, Jr.

Whenever a media outlet so blatantly (and clumsily!) tries to exclude, ignore or dismiss a viable candidate, let alone one running THIRD in most national polls, it merely puts a spotlight on the media outlet for either blatant bias or overwhelming incompetence. When they are unable to ignore him completely, The Corporate Media instead tries to marginalize Ron Paul by using blatant ad-hominem propaganda attacks- claiming he is 'kooky', 'fringe' or many other hateful, yet strangely vague and meaningless terms. Concurrently, they usually try to smear his supporters as well, using terms like 'cult', 'extreme', or even 'wholely an internet phenomenon'. Unfortunately for the media (and fortunately for Dr. Paul), this strategy has consistently backfired- driving people AWAY from the already distrusted corporate media, and directly to Ron Paul- if only for more information to see why the media that they so strongly mistrust is trying to prevent people from even hearing about Dr. Paul, his ideas and proposals, and is amazingly strong but ironically widely ignored support!

You see, the media is perplexed by the Ron Paul campaign, because he doesn't fit neatly into one of their established 'storyline' boxes. Ron Paul's supporters are old AND young, rich and poor, 'liberal' and 'conservative' (to use those obsolete, 20th-century terms') and many other seemingly contradictory groups. Most 'traditional' politicians and media-types can't wrap their restricted intellects around the concept of how the message of FREEDOM and INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY actually UNITE people from so many diverse backgrounds- unlike traditional politics, which seeks to divide people into tidy ethnic, economic, social and other demographic groups- the better to inculcate a 'groupthink' mentality and manipulate them into willing submission to an established candidate, party or ideology.

Fortunately, more and more Americans every day are rejecting the divisive politics of the past, along with the manipulative politicians that promote so many divisive and destructive policies and programs. The old media is dying because it also relies on dividing Americans into groups and using their differences against them in order to profit from their ignorance. By that, I mean the ignorance that keeps Americans from uniting against the corrupt politicians and their internationalist puppetmasters, who are destroying this country by bleeding Americans dry with taxes, inflation and useless wars, then crassly telling the very people they are enslaving that the economic, social and political chains around them are for 'their own good'. Telling us that 'Freedom is Slavery' by reducing our once proud middle class into a nation of low-wage-slaves and high-tech serfs. Telling us that 'War is Peace' by keeping us on a perpetual (and highly profitable) permanent war footing, with an ambiguous 'enemy' that is not a nation, group or a person, but the amorphous and constantly changing abstract concept of 'Terrorism'- which can be twisted and morphed into practically ANYTHING in order to stifle dissent, and to keep stoking the fires of an emotional (and irrational) fever for perpetual war. One only has to read the daily newspapers (what is left of them!), or turn on the television to be inundated with Orwellian 'DoubleThink'- where readers and viewers are expected to keep (at least) two logically opposed viewpoints or ideas in their minds at the same time.

The perfect example of this 'DoubleThink' is the coverage of the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign. The American people are told by the Corporate Media and Party-Elite 'experts' that whoever wins a 'straw poll', raises more money than the others, has the most enthusiastic supporters, has the most sophisticated, effective and activist grass-roots organization, and consistently maintains and grows his support is the FRONT RUNNER! That is certainly true whenever ANY OTHER candidate achieves even a modicum of any one of the above criteria. However, Ron Paul has consistently won more straw polls, or placed in the top tier than any other candidate- but when he does win, it is either dismissed as 'insignificant', or ignored altogether. Ron Paul consistently outdraws live crowds of (non-paid) supporters wherever he goes- but they are mysteriously absent of Television cameras and national coverage. Ron Paul is consistently at or near the top in fund-raising, and raises more money from Active Military than all other candidates COMBINED! Yet his fund-raising prowess is somehow attributed to a combination of 'the internet' (?), a strong core of 'followers' (as if that's a BAD thing in politics?) or (once again), is simply ignored by the media. Ron Paul proposes radical ideas for actually SOLVING our economic crisis, by outlining the root CAUSES, prescribes detailed and economically sound programs to right the economy, and backs them up with detailed analyses and real-world examples from a wide range of respected experts both in academia AND in the business world. For this he is called 'crazy'- despite the fact that EVERY other candidate has donw a 180-degree turn (at least in RHETORIC), and now suddenly mouths the very same things that Ron Paul has been saying for at least 30 years- even though most either don't actually mean what they say, or dont even UNDERSTAND the concepts they are supposedly advocating. Perhaps that is why in the debates, they consistently refuse to even ASK Ron Paul questions about economics- can't make the other candidates look dim by comparison, can we?

Most importantly, the most distorted and wrongly vilified plank of Ron Paul's campaign is his advocacy of a return to a Constitutionally-Sound foreign policy of non-interventionism, which is wholly different from the 'isolationism' that so many of his detractors simplistically try to tag him with. Non-Interventionism was the key to America's greatest strength before pre-emptive Wars became so profitable- and a means to consolidate and centralize Government power and wealth. Many other candidates now strangely echo Ron Paul's opposition to endless interventionist wars that have no seeming strategy other than self-perpetuation- even after hypocritically being strong advocates for interventionist wars mere months or years ago!. Sadly, for most candidates this sudden pivot to a new line of 'peace' rhetoric is merely a cynical new 'political position', designed to try to 'broaden their appeal'. When pressed for details, most wilt into lofty-sounding 'glittering generality' platitudes about 'supporting the troops', defending freedom', and other glorious-sounding empty phrases that belie both their records and their REAL positions (if any). ONLY Ron Paul will strengthen our country and support our troops by returning them to their Constitutionally-Mandated duty of protecting our Home Shores- free of the vague 'nation building' and the endlessly miasmic 'war on terror' that saps not only our military strength, but weakens us economically, socially and politically- at the same time creating hatred and enemies in those countries that want nothing to do with us. It is also enlightening to do the research that our media refuses to do, and realize that most countries we help with 'nation building' or to 'fight terror' are rich in natural resources that American and multinational companies wish to exploit, in partnership with the multinational Banks like the IMF, BIS and World Bank. No wonder Members of the Military support Ron Paul in such overwhelming numbers- they, more than any others, see the devastating effects our destructively aggressive and militaristic foreign policy have on not only those we bomb, invade and put under the bootheel of 'friendly' dictators, but also how these endless wars rip apart not only the fabric of American families, communities and businesses, but also the social and economic fabric of our entire nation.

The time of corruption and lies, endless wars and economic enslavement must end. Most of those yearning to lead America will promise you the world in order to get elected, then will turn around and snatch that promised world away from you once the voting is over. The time of a corporate media giving Americans only the (false) choice between 'Corrupt Statism' and 'Corrupt Statism-Lite' is also drawing to a close. You can give your vote to someone who will tell you what you want to hear 100% of the time, who will then proceed to do the bidding of whoever is the highest bidder for his services amongst the lobbyist charnel houses lining K-Street. But there IS, finally, a REAL alternative to the lying, controlling politics-as-usual sock-puppets who continue to drive our country straight into economic, social and cultural oblivion. You can vote for the man who will NOT tell you what you WANT to hear, but instead, what you NEED to hear! The man who instead of nibbling around the edges of corruption and calling it 'reform', will boldly overturn the wasteful and bloated government machine in Washington that is sapping America's strength, destroying our economy, and ripping apart our social fabric. The man who promises to 'Restore America NOW!' That man is Ron Paul, and he doesn't want to just win the election, he wants to save America- the land he loves.

Ron Paul Wins The GOP California Straw Poll

TODAY Show - Ron Paul wins GOP California straw poll

So, the only Candidate that makes sense, both on foreign and domestic policy is called 'crazy' by the media. The only candidate that can draw support from young, old, rich, poor, rural, urban, Democrats, Republicans and Independents is said to have support 'a mile wide and an inch deep' by the media 'experts' and party establishment. THe party that says it want's a 'Big Tent' shuns the ONLY candidate that promises to bring in massive amounts of new voters into the party. The candidate that draws more support from Active-Duty military than ALL the others COMBINED is called 'Anti-American'. The candidate that draws the most individual contributions, and consistently is at or near the top in fund raising- despite refusing corporate PAC money- is dismissed as 'fringe'. The only candidate that consistently draws the biggest crowds, wins most polls (that aren't rigged or don't mention him), and has the best grass-roots organization is called 'un-electable'.

What is wrong with this picture? If ANY other candidate than Ron Paul showed even HALF of the breadth, depth and fervor of support that Ron Paul has, the self-appointed experts in the Media and the Party would soil themselves and declare the election 'over'. But Ron Paul is not held to the same standards as other 'Establishment' candidates. His successes are minimized and ignored, and any perceived or fabricated negativity is played up beyond belief. Americans may be ignorant because the media refuses to report the real facts, but Americans are far from stupid. They know when they are being played, and recognize a con job when it is being played on them. The media emperor has no clothes, but they still want to sell us all the pretty candidates in empty suits.

Fortunately, the more the media ignores or unfairly attacks Ron Paul, the less stature and believability they have in Americans' minds. Ron Paul is consistent in his beliefs, statements, rhetoric and record- something the media apparently doesn't know how to deal with! American voters know, however- they come out to support, cheer on and VOTE for him!

Ron Paul Media Bias- What it is, and how it works...

Politics-National | Ron Paul attracts loyal following | The Detroit News

While putting forth many positive quotes from Ron Paul supporters, the above article unfortunately also contains some inaccuracies and subtle (and not-so-subtle) bias against Dr. Paul, both from the writer and from some of the selected interviewees. Following what seems to be a standard media script, this article like so many others tries to make the minimization and marginalization of Ron Paul, his campaign and his supporters a 'self-fulfilling prophecy' by repeating half-truths, selective quotes and outright falsehoods. While Ron Paul supporters appreciate the increased (and belated) attention that media outlets are giving to Dr. Paul, most media coverage unfortunately is of the 'damning with faint praise' type like this article- which mixes positive coverage with outrageously false statements and premises. Either that, or the coverage merely parrots untrue and widely held Party and Media Establishment 'talking points' about Dr. Paul that seem designed to counter any positive coverage of his campaign with an unhealthy dose of negative and biased smears.

To support the premise that Ron Paul is 'out of the mainstream', the article claims he was 'booed' at the debate Tuesday night when Former PA Senator Rick Santorum claimed (incorrectly) that Ron Paul wrote that he 'believes America is to blame for the Sept. 11, 2011, terrorist attacks.' Santorum's entire premise is wrong and unsupported by the facts, and the article's reporting of what actually happened on Tuesday is inaccurate. To begin with, Santorum verbally assaulted Ron Paul with a twisted and jingoistic misrepresentation of what Dr. Paul had written on 9-11. In actuality Ron Paul wrote a sober and detailed analysis of the reasons behind the 9-11 attacks, supporting his analysis with many CIA documents and policy analyses, serious and widely accepted academic studies, as well as U.S. State and Defense Department studies, all of which detail the negative effects of U.S. Military and Intelligence Agency actions abroad, as well as the blowback from American Corporate exploitation of foreign nations' peoples and resources. Ignoring the actual sober and detailed paper, Santorum instead smeared Ron Paul with the abject lie (repeated without challenge by the Detroit News) that Ron Paul blames America for 9-11. Either Mr. Santorum didn't actually READ Dr. Paul's detailed analysis, or else he deliberately tried to end any rational debate on the subject and puff up his own faltering campaign by promulgating an obvious lie. Furthermore, while a very few VOCAL and well placed (near crowd microphones) supporters of Rick Santorum 'booed' Ron Paul before he had a chance to respond, they were quickly drowned out by the cheers for Ron Paul, as well as calls for him to actually be able to answer the spurious and inaccurate charges by Rick Santorum. The entire exchange was not reported by The Detroit News, nor was ANY of Ron Paul's intelligent response to Santorum's simplistic attack. Rep. Paul was able to point out he was actually quoting US GOVERNMENT analysis of the reasons BEHIND the 9-11 attacks- not 'blaming the US' as Mr. Santorum simplistically tried to insinuate. Santorumn's argument is the logical equivalent of blaming an police investigative team for a murder, when they merely are explaining motives, opportunity and facts surrounding the case!Santorum and others in the Neo-Con war-mongering wing of the GOP (and DNC!) always try to unfairly smear ANYONE questioning their jingoistic, simplistic and (frankly) WRONG reasons for 9-11 such as that 'they hate us because we're free' and 'they hate our civilization'. As seen on Tuesday, these tools of the Militaristic Money Machine in Washington attempt to shout down and silence ANY discussion of 9-11 that doesn't fit their narrow view, as it would derail the gravy train of bloated military contracts and lobbyist cash flowing into the campaign coffers of those who support our financially unsustainable policy of endless wars- with endless profitability for the well-connected.

Why must the Detroit News (and many other media outlets) continue to promote political bias as 'objective news' in regards to Ron Paul, his campaign and his supporters? Phrases such as "Can he win? No, he's too far out of the mainstream,", “out of the mainstream”, or the biggest whopper (from an 'anonymous' GOP analyst!), "Ron Paul supporters are a mile deep and an inch wide — they're passionate, but there aren't that many of them," You even quote a DEMOCRATIC Party Establishment flak, Chairman Mark Brewer, who repeats the establishment Demopublican/Republicrat party talking point "His support has a ceiling — and it doesn't go beyond that.". When did the Chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party become an expert on Republican politics and Candidates? I've heard that EXACT talking-point line from party operatives and media pundits numerous times- but NEVER with any explanation or facts to support such a vague and inexplicable blanket statement.

Even with (or perhaps in reaction to) obvious party elite and corporate media bias against him, Ron Paul's support has consistently been increasing in the national and many state polls, placing right below or right with the so-called 'front runners'. He does not 'lose' supporters to other candidates, but (unlike other candidates) manages to retain his support base even while others lose support when another candidate enters the race. He also consistently polls well against President Obama, at or above the levels of his GOP rivals. But you rarely see that strength reported, as many news outlets fail to mention his good results, or they shockingly even EXCLUDE him from the list of candidates asked about by the pollsters! Ron Paul is still called (even in this article) a 'longshot', despite consistently doubling, tripling or more the support seen for Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain, or media darling John Huntsman. NEVER is the term 'longshot' applied to those candidates. Why not, since they now consistently poll below the purported 'longshot' Ron Paul? At this point in the 2008 campaign, John McCain was polling WELL below what Ron Paul is at this point in the 2012 cycle. I don't remember any 'longshot' comments about the eventual 2008 GOP nominee. Perhaps because of his ties to the establishment party types and their friends in the media. This type of 'horse race' political reporting reminds many of the biased and negative early coverage of the Carter, Reagan and Clinton campaigns, all of which (surprisingly to the media and parties) resulted in White House wins!

To the question of Ron Paul not being 'mainstream', look at the main topics of the debates these days- smaller government, slashing the debt, sound money, bringing the troops home- all of these Ron Paul brought up in the 2008 Campaign (and for 30 years prior) and Dr. Paul was literallly LAUGHED AT on stage at the '08 debates for even MENTIONING these topics (Mitt?)! In 2011, these issues that Ron Paul was so 'out of the mainstream' on in 2008 are now the dominant issues in the Presidential debates! Furthermore, many of the 'laughing fools' in 2008 now suddenly ADVOCATE the positions they previously dismissed! Seems the 'mainstream' has moved to Ron Paul, as well as most of the GOP candidates- in rhetoric, at least, if not in their records or ACTUAL beliefs. Of course, as the only Medical Doctor in the MSNBC Debate, Ron Paul was the ONLY one of 8 Candidates NOT asked about Health Care! Coincidentally, in the recent CNN 'Tea Party' Debate, Ron Paul- who got over 300 co-sponsors on a bill to Audit the Federal Reserve, and who has been dogged on the Fed and monetary Policy for 30 years- was IGNORED on the subject of the Fed! This, even as Romney, Perry, Bachmann and others mouthed their recently adopted rhetoric that parroted Ron Paul's positions, legislation and extensive writings on the subject!

On Mr. Brewer's analysis of Ron Paul's support as 'A Mile Wide And A Few Inches Deep' is another Establishment talking point about Ron Paul that doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Even Ron Paul's worst detractors admit to his formidable fundraising ability and campaign finance abilities. It is certainly 'a mile wide', since he relies only on INDIVIDUAL donors- not the corporate 'bundlers' and lobbyist-fueled Political Action Committee special-interest dollars that all the other campaigns 'Bank' on. Even without the massive boost of Corporate, Union and other establishment Big-Money donors, Ron Paul, by any measure, always is at or near the top of the list when campaign donations are officially reported. Perhaps if taking strings-attached money from big corporations, corrupt unions, Wall Street Bankers and international corporations is the definition of 'Deep Support', then I guess Ron Paul doesn't have it, and he is proud of that fact. But if you use other metrics like support from independent, unsolicited individual donors as a measure, then his support is deep indeed. Or, if you count donations from active-duty U.S. Military personnel, Ron Paul's total in the 2012 campaign is greater than ALL other candidates, even counting President Obama. If our military support Ron Paul so 'deeply' and overwhelmingly, doesn't Rick Santorum's nasty criticism seem somehow hollow and crass?

In 2011 America, we are now well past the time where self-appointed political 'gate-keepers' in the media can steer and influence the Presidential races with unfairly biased reporting and selective or censored coverage of 'certain' candidates that don't fit their 'story line'. Instead of covering the the race for the most important office in the United States, and probably the World, as a 'story' or a 'horse race', Reporters, pundits and commentators need to concentrate on the candidates actual statements, policies and records- without prejudicially deciding who is 'electable', 'a long-shot' or 'mainstream'. Those questions should be for the electorate to decide when given a clear picture- free of corporate or party bias- of where the candidates stand on the issues.

An American Appeal

We now are facing yet another in an unending series of speeches from our President that either admonish us (all or certain groups) for our shortcomings, or else propose vague generalities that shroud more back-room decisions that affect all of us, yet neither compel or motivate us into positive action, or even vague enlightenment. Addresses to Joint Sessions of Congress USED to be for monumental undertakings or events- 9/11, Declarations of war, State of the Union Addresses. Now, President Obama calls Congress together NOT in reaction to a major event, NOT to declare war, NOT to even announce a sweeping plan and lay out a clear path. No, he USES Congress as a mere Public Relations prop to make a POLITICAL POLICY SPEECH! Not a comprehensive proposal, not a series of bold legislative initiatives, but yet another speech. The president is not being 'Presidential', despite all the gilded trappings surrounding his latest 'speech', and most certainly despite the reverential hosannahs from his Amen Corner in the press. By using this grand stage for such a trivial amount of substance, he is insulting the integrity of the Legislative Branch, insulting the intelligence of the American Public (and that is a HARD thing to do these days!), and insulting the very Legislative process by which we run this country, and by extension the very Constitution by which we rule our society.

Make your speech instead from the Oval Office, Mr. President. Then, present a comprehensive program via an actual BILL sent to Congress. Maybe even allow the members to READ IT and DEBATE IT before trying to ram it through via parliamentary tricks and closed-door deals, as has increasingly been the case over the past many years. We don't need a Politburo-like 'Super-Congress' to work behind closed doors and circumvent the legal and Constitutional process that has served us so well over the last 230+ years! Let the American public see how Washington SHOULD work. We don't want any more platitude-filled speeches without substance, and certainly no more 'focus-group-tested' proposals that are merely the same failed 'stimulus' and 'tax-and-spend' proposals that have been repackaged in shiny and new bags, but still contain the same old insider political-payoff garbage that should have been taken out years ago.

Americans are tired of political payoffs and paybacks- whether they are for your friends in the Union or your friends on Wall Street and the international Banking conglomerates. This also goes for BOTH sides of the aisle, who have conveniently used the 'us versus them' strategy for years to divert public attention from the process by which BOTH parties gained power, influence and WEALTH at the expense of the American public. Americans are sick of the 'Compromise' mentality of Washington- where the only things that get compromised are the ethics of politicians and the integrity of America's social, financial and economic well-being. The time of Crony-Capitalism and the economic enslavement of the Corporate/Social welfare State is rapidly drawing to a close. Keeping the poorest and most vulnerable amongst us as a permanent and growing underclass merely to build a powerful unelected bureaucratic 'ruling class' is just as heinous and destructive as is using Lobbyist Billions to 'fix the system' to insure ungodly profits and unfair competitive advantage for the wealthy few- at the expense of those poor, middle class and small-to-medium businessmen and women who have to fight unfair government subsidies bought and paid for by the legalized system of bribery known as 'Lobbying'. All of this corruption, greed and social stratification may lead to short-term ploitical and economic gain for a very few, but the long-term collapse of this unsustainable house of badly-dealt cards is rapidly coming upon us.

Many in power in politics, business and the media are either in denial of the impending death of this Crony-Capitalist Oligarchy, or are even actively ENCOURAGING it's rapid degeneration into moral, social and economic chaos. Many more still see a profit motive, a way to more power, or even an opportunity for personal or ideological gains through social upheaval, in promoting the further decline of the American Middle Class, along with the weakening and destruction of the economic engine of America known as Start-Up, Small and Growing business, and the dissolution of the social bondsthat hold together the threads of the increasingly tattered, but uniquely American social fabric of our society.

Now is the time not for DIVIDING America along economic, social, political, ethnic, racial or ANY OTHER lines that so many of BOTH parties seem willing to exploit for their own ends. That is a dark path that has led many nations and societies throughout history to chaotic and rapid decline, and eventual destruction. Alexander's Greece was the pinnacle of economic, social and military power in the world. The Romans were the Greatest Empire ever seen on the face of this planet. The 'Sun Never Set On The British Empire'. On and on throughout recorded history, and probably beyond into the time-shrouded depths of prehistory, Empires, nations and societies were thought too rich, too powerful and too socially advanced to EVER decline- let alone disappear from the face of the Earth. Do we Americans wish to be remembered as just another bright star among that shined the beacon of peace, freedom and individual liberty for only a short while, only to descend into chaos, flicker and fade from the world stage like a Guiding torch that was extinguished by it's own hubris and neglect?.

I say no! America has strayed from it's roots, but it is still not too late. We MUST return to our founding core beliefs of individual Liberty, the myriad of individual freedoms that in the past and (most importantly) still DO set our nation uniquely and proudly apart from the soul-crushing conformity of collectivism and despotism that still threatens the vast majority of humanity. Our best, proudest and most important days as a nation and society may very well lay ahead of us. But ONLY if we NEVER forget what set us apart from the world initially, and strengthened us continually and progressively throughout our national history; The supreme belief that the rights of the individual must NEVER be trampled by the majority, and that each individual has a God-Given right to 'Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness'. All of our laws, beliefs and STRENGTHS flow from that simple yet powerful line that began our journey together as a Nation. Now is the time to come together- not in a 'compromising' way that belittles our beliefs, but in a bold, sometimes contentious, but always moral and forthright way, so that we may advance as a nation- not of economic, social, political, ethnic, racial or ANY OTHER groups- but as a nation of INDIVIDUALS! Together as Americans we have done, and can STILL do great things- but only with respect for individual rights, recognition that we must compassionately and fairly address the needs of the less fortunate among us, and without giving ANY individual, group or entity (especially the GOVERNMENT) undue influence and unjust power over ANY other individual or group.

As Benjamin Franklin was asked shortly after the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”. He succinctly replied: “A Republic, if you can keep it.”. America today is now at one of those rare crossroads in history where we can choose the future course of our nation, and in doing so the future of this planet. Will we continue the down the present narrow and destructive path of selfish divisiveness, personal and collective greed and short-sighted power-lust? Or will we look toward working through our differences, uniting around our common principles and values, and moving America forward out of the depths of despair into a new Golden Age of enlightenment, prosperity and Liberty?

It's time for ALL Americans to choose.
